I am an independent freelancer and creative collaborator working across the interconnected roles of educator, writer, researcher, organiser, facilitator, producer, ethnologist and fieldworker.

My work sits at the intersection between cultural ethnology and human ecology, engaging with themes connecting across folk culture, heritage, land stewardship, nature restoration, climate justice and hopeful alternatives to extractive capitalism.

I have worked with a number of organisations and institutions as well as with a growing interdisciplinary network of artists, educators and practitioners (see portfolio). Together with my long-term collaborator Raghnaid Sandilands we have developed a shared practice of ‘cultural darning and mending’ - most recently working as researchers-in-residence for to the Findhorn Watershed Initiative (2024) and creating work for the International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia (2023).

My creative practice is informed by my academic background in creative ethnology and my research in human ecology; both share an emphasis on active engagment and change-making informed by critical scholarship. I hold an award-winning PhD from the University of Edinburgh where I taught in the Department of Celtic & Scottish Studies and School of Scottish Studies Archives.

I teach on various short courses including 'Tobar an Dualchais: Creative Connections’ and for the education cooperative Centre for Human Ecology. I am also a collaborator with the Enough! collective, exploring ideas and action around alternatives to capitalism, degrowth, decolonisation and climate justice in a Scottish - and particularly Highland - context.

I am currently employed part-time as a Research Associate within the School of Design at Edinburgh College of Art.
